PROFILE

Dr. Theodore D. Kress, OD

Dr. Kress relocated to West Virginia in September 1997. He practices primarily at Bridgeport and Buckhannon. He practices full scope optometry including primary care, contact lens fitting, pediatrics, geriatrics, and treatment and management of all ocular disease.

Dr. Kress earned his undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Science in biological sciences, at Ohio University in Athens. He graduated with honors in 1993. Dr. Kress attended The Ohio State College of Optometry and received his doctorate in June 1997. During his tenure at Ohio State, Dr. Kress completed auxiliary courses in ocular photography and specialty fitting of rigid gas permeable lenses.

In the winter of 1996-7, Dr. Kress successfully completed an internship rotation at the Dayton Veteran's Administration Medical Center. At this large tertiary care hospital, Dr. Kress treated inpatients as well as outpatients with advanced ocular disease and multiple medical problems. He worked as part of an integrated medical team, ordering consultations and laboratory testing for his patients as well as performing eye consultations for other physicians.

Dr. Kress practiced in a specialty ophthalmology practice for two years in 1996-97. Working closely with two ophthalmologists and two optometrists, he managed pre- and postoperative care of patients who had cataract surgery, glaucoma, and diabetes. Also Dr. Kress managed pre- and post operative care of radial keratotomy (RK), photorefractive keratectomy (PRK), and laser assisted in-situ keratomileusis (LASIK).

Dr. Kress has earned his hospital privileges and is on staff at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, West Virginia. There he treats and manages all ocular diseases including all stages of diabetic, hypertensive and glaucoma retinopathy. He also works in consultation with other physicians in all areas of the hospital.

Dr. Kress is an inducted member of Phi Beta Kappa, the Optometric National Honor Society. He also was a member of the Optometry National Fraternity, Epsilon Psi Epsilon, where he served as a volunteer for four years to the Fun Run for Pilot Dogs. Presently, Dr. Kress is a member in good standing with the American Optometric Association and the West Virginia Optometric Association.

Dr. Kress holds licenses in practice Optometry in both West Virginia and Ohio including advanced diagnostic and therapeutic ocular and systemic medications.
